Natalie Dormer Stars in Powerful First Trailer for Audrey's Children

Audrey's Childen, starring Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer, has its first trailer, and it looks to be a powerhouse of a role for the actress who has already won an Honorable Mention in the Best Actress category at the Philadelphia Film Festival last year for her performance as the titular Audrey.

The film follows Dormer as Dr. Audrey Evans, who is fighting her own revolution amidst the resistance to the Vietnam War in 1960s Philadelphia.

As the first female chief of pediatric oncology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Audrey Evans is dealing with the pushback that comes with being the only woman in the room, and her progressive new treatment methods are at first dismissed, and almost entirely sidelined, but she refuses to give up.

The Fulbright Scholar and award-winning doctor is also the co-founder of the Ronald McDonald House Charities, a place which provides a free "home away from home" for families while their child is in hospital, another immense feat from this impressive figure.

Now, her story will be told on the big screen in Audrey's Childen, a film which comes from screenwriter Julia Fisher Farbman, who first learned of Dr. Evans' story through Modern Hero, where she profiled Dr. Evans for a 10-minute video which went on to garner 17 million views.

Award-winning film and television director Ami Canaan Mann rounds out the female-led team. Her independent feature films Jackie and Ryan and Texas Killing Fields both premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. Her independent film, Morning, won several awards including Worldfest Houston First Feature Gold Award, and her episode of Friday Night Lights won the Television Academy's 'Television with a Conscience'.

It's easy to see why the story compelled Dormer through the first trailer, which is as touching as it is powerful, showcasing the journey the legendary Dr. Audrey Evans went on to make sure her voice was heard to help the children she cared so deeply for.

"I had been waiting for a script to come along that would call me back from my pandemic leave and when Audrey's Children came along, I could not believe that Dr. Audrey Evans was not a household name," Dormer says in the press notes for the film. "I thought the honor and the privilege of getting to play such a woman is just far too great, and I have to do this job immediately."

Shot in just 23 days, the making of Audrey's Children embodies the spirit of its muse.

"Our team is women-supporting-women at its finest," screenwriter Fisher Farbman says. "Each one of us brought something different to the table, and we pushed each other to create and capture the best version of Audrey's dynamism on screen."

Audrey's Children is set for a nationwide theatrical release on March 28, 2025, coinciding with Women's History Month.
